Save Money by Simplifying Complex Agreements

Software acquired through Microsoft Volume Licensing is a software license that only gives users the right to run a Microsoft software product. Customers can save above retail boxed software prices when they participate in a Microsoft Volume Licensing program. By acquiring software licenses through Volume Licensing, you pay for only the software license and not for additional materials.

With some Microsoft Volume Licensing programs, you can also purchase Microsoft Software Assurance for Volume Licensing. This single, cost-effective program can help boost organizational productivity with 24×7 support, deployment planning services, user and technical training, and the latest Microsoft software releases and unique technologies.

When you acquire software through a Microsoft Volume Licensing program, you can choose to acquire media (or supplemental media), documentation and product support separately via download or physical media as needed.

Whether you are a small business or a organization, our software licensing team will help you to reduce costs and we will check if your organization is eligible for volume or academic software license discounts.

Microsoft Volume Licensing programmes help organizations with tasks such as:

  • Tracking software use to ensure legal compliance.
  • Deploying updates and new versions, especially on client computers.
  • Organizing software license purchasing through centralized purchasing practices.
  • Microsoft Open programs, are recommended for organizations between 5 and 250 employees.

Microsoft Open License

Open License is a good volume licensing option if you are a corporate, academic, charitable, or government organization that wants to pay as you go. Because you pay for licenses as you need them, you get maximum flexibility to grow with your organization's increasing and changing business needs.

The Open License agreement requires a minimum initial purchase of five software licenses, but you can acquire additional licensed products through Open License in any quantity at any time during the two-year agreement term. Microsoft Software Assurance for Volume Licensing can be purchased at the time of the license purchase to help you get the most out of your software investment.

An Open License is a perpetual license (i.e. everlasting) and the whole payment is made up front. You are entitled to purchase additional licenses under this agreement at the Open License discounted price.

• Government organizations

• Health organizations

• Educational institutions

• Qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations

• Multinational organizations

Open Value License

The Microsoft Open Value Programs are for corporate, academic, charity, and government organizations that want to make a minimum initial purchase of five software licenses. With features such as a customizable platform and volume discounts for minimal up-front purchases, Open programs give you value and flexibility in a convenient Microsoft Volume Licensing program.

Open Value Organization-Wide

A three-year, Company-wide agreement that lets you pay annually for the right to run the same version of a licensed product across your organization and to upgrade to the latest versions as they are released.

Open Value Non–Company-Wide

This is available by either adding Non-Company-Wide licenses to your company-wide agreement, or opening a Non- Company-Wide agreement.

Open Value Subscription Graphics

Offers the same benefits as Open Value, but with lower up-front costs. With Open Value Subscription you have the ability to increase or decrease your license count on an annual basis to accommodate changes in your overall desktop PC quantity. This program provides access to Microsoft software licenses for the term of the agreement through subscription-based licensing and offers new Open Value Subscription customers a potential savings of up to 50 percent on their first year’s payment through credit for qualified existing software.

Enterprise Agreement

The Enterprise Agreement is appropriate if you have more than 250 PCs, devices and/or users and want to license software and cloud services for your organization for a minimum, three-year period. Regardless of size, as an EA customer you will sign a Microsoft Business and Services Agreement and, at your choosing, one or more Enrollments.

The following enterprise products are included in the Professional Desktop Full Platform:

• Windows Pro Upgrade

• Microsoft Office Professional Plus

• Core Client Access License Suite

The following enterprise products are included in the Enterprise Desktop:

• Windows Pro Upgrade

• Microsoft Office Professional Plus

• Enterprise CAL Suite

Enterprise Subscription Agreement (EAS)

EAS is a Volume Licensing program for large organizations that want to subscribe to, rather than purchase, Microsoft software licenses. This program provides similar advantages as the Enterprise Agreement with a lower initial cost based on a three-year subscription and the ability to increase or decrease subscription counts on an annual basis. However, unlike the EA where you retain perpetual use rights for the licenses you purchase, with this subscription agreement, you gain access to Microsoft software for only as long as you maintain your subscription.

Enterprise License under Software Assurance

All Enterprise Agreements include Software Assurance benefits that you can use to plan deployments, ready your users for new software, and support Microsoft products and services without incurring additional costs.

Education Licensing

The Academic Volume Licensing program that is best for you depends on the size and type of your institution and how you want to acquire Microsoft licenses and Online Services. There are two types of programs: subscription and perpetual.

Subscription licensing

Subscription licensing gives you rights to use the products that you license—plus covered upgrades and downgrades—over the license period. Subscription licensing is great for institutions that want:

• Access to the latest technology at the lowest upfront cost

• The convenience of counting people or computers once per year

• Easy compliance by knowing all users or computers are licensed for the year

• Automatic Software Assurance coverage

Perpetual licensing

In perpetual licensing programs, you purchase the software licenses, so your organization has rights to the software after the licensing term ends. Perpetual licensing is great for institutions that want:

• To own their software licenses

• Transactional-based purchases of licenses in specific quantities

• Optional Software Assurance coverage

Eligibility

The following types of educational entities are typically eligible to purchase through Microsoft Academic Volume Licensing programs:

• Educational institutions

• Administrative offices and boards of education

• Public libraries and museums
